Netanyahu Says He's Rallying International Support For War With Iran
trunews.com
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu possibly let slip his true intentions at an international conference in Warsaw convened by the United States to address Iran and other Middle East issues.
The ministerial conference in Warsaw, Poland, is being attended by Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as well as other U.S. officials working on President Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century” Israeli-Palestinian peace plan. But in a tweet that went out through Netanyahu’s official Twitter account, the Israeli premier said:
“What is important about this meeting, and it is not in secret, because there are many of those—is that this is an open meeting with representatives of leading Arab countries, that are sitting down together with Israel in order to advance the common interest of war with Iran.”
More than 60 countries are participating in the conference, many of them from the Middle East, Eurasia, and the Persian Gulf region. Netanyahu’s tweet was left up for more than an hour before it was deleted and replaced with a statement that changed “war with” to “combating.”
The slip of the tweet was attributed to an incorrect translation from Hebrew—even though most Israelis working in the government are fluent in English. However, it reinforced the notion that the conference was yet another step in the U.S. “regime change playbook” that was used in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
