As many as two million Americans were expected to descend upon Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, Jan. 6 for the “March for Trump” rally in support of President Donald Trump’s ongoing battles to get election irregularities recognized by the courts and for illegal votes to be thrown out. Unfortunately for the pro-Trump protesters who wanted to attend the event, Apple put their foot on the scale and prevented Americans from exercising their right to free assembly. According to many users of their smartphones, Apple Maps is allegedly blocking directions to the nation’s capital.
On Jan. 5, as many supporters of the president were converging upon Washington, Apple Maps disabled its ability to provide directions to the district. Screenshots began circulating around social media websites like Twitter showing people opening Apple Maps on their smartphones and asking for directions to Washington, D.C. only to be met with this statement: “Directions Not Available. Directions are not available at this time because of current road conditions.”
Very odd – in advance of the big DC Trump rally – Apple Maps has blocked directions around the nation’s capital. pic.twitter.com/NOGEDJSOzc
