-The fingerprint of heresy: Vatican II uses the same verb as the Council of Florence to teach the opposite –
In our video, as well as in our article (The Principal Heresies of Vatican II), we prove that there are many heresies in Vatican II. However, one heresy that until now we have not expanded upon is Vatican II’s teaching in Nostra Aetate #4 (the Declaration on Non-Christian Religions). A closer inspection of this matter reveals that this passage in Vatican II contains a very specific and outrageous heresy.
Vatican II Declaration, Nostra Aetate (#4): “Although the Church is the new people of God, the Jews should not be presented as rejected or cursed by God, as if such views followed from the holy scriptures.”
Before we explain that, however, it should be obvious that Nostra Aetate #4 is heretical. Jews are rejected by God, because all who reject Jesus Christ are denied by God. This truth was taught by Our Lord.
Matthew 10:33- “But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven.”
The word “deny” means to reject or to repudiate. Look it up in the dictionary. Vatican II is denying the divinely revealed truth of Matthew 10:33: that he who denies Our Lord is rejected by Him. So, without going into further detail, one can see that Vatican II teaches heresy in Nostra Aetate #4. But it gets worse.
In case you have any doubt about this heresy – in case you aren’t sure if Nostra Aetate #4 is contradicting Catholic dogma – consider the points below. When doing so, keep the statements of these defenders of Vatican II in mind:
Christopher Ferrara and Thomas Woods, The Great Façade, p. 88: “Granted, none of the conciliar documents contains any explicit doctrinal error; and Paul VI did act decisively in several instances to prevent outright errors from being promulgated as Catholic doctrine.”
Bob Sungenis: “Let me assure you that I consider Vatican II a legitimate ecumenical council. I will go one step further and say that it was a council that contains no error… Here are two men [the Dimond Brothers] who scour Church documents like people scour the newspaper to see if they won the lottery, and yet they can’t come up with one indisputable, bone fide error [in Vatican II].”
The Council of Florence dogmatically defined that the Church rejects any individual who has a view contrary to Catholic teaching about Our Lord or the Trinity.
Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Bull Cantate Domino, 1442, ex cathedra: “…the holy Roman Church, founded on the words of our Lord and Savior, firmly believes, professes and preaches one true God, almighty, immutable and eternal, Father, Son and Holy Spirit… Therefore it [the Holy Roman Church] condemns, rejects, and anathematizes all who think opposed and contrary things, and declares them to be aliens from the Body of Christ, which is the Church.”
This is a dogmatic definition on individuals (e.g. Jews, etc.) who have a view on Our Lord Jesus Christ or the Holy Trinity that contradicts the Church. The Council of Florence solemnly defines that the Church rejects and condemns whoever has such a view! Note: the Council is not merely saying that the Church rejects the the view that is contrary to Our Lord, but that it rejects the individual (e.g. the Jew).
In making this dogmatic declaration, the Latin of the Council of Florence uses the word “reprobat.” It means“rejects.” It is from the Latin verb reprobo, which means “I reject” or “condemn.” It could also be translated as “reprobates”, meaning that the Church “reprobates” such a person.
The Latin of the Council of Florence: “Quoscunque ergo adversa et contraria sentientes damnat, reprobat et anathematizat et a Christi corpore, quod est ecclesia, alienos esse denuntiat.”
Council of Florence, English: “Therefore it condemns, rejects, and anathematizes all who think opposed and contrary things, and declares them to be aliens from the Body of Christ, which is the Church.”
The Church rejects all who have a view contrary to faith in Our Lord or the Trinity (e.g. the Jews). But here’s the bombshell: In Nostra Aetate #4, in declaring just the opposite, Vatican II uses the same verb.
Vatican II, Nostra Aetate #4, Original Latin: “…Iudaei tamen neque ut a Deo reprobati neque ut maledicti exhibeantur…”
Nostra Aetate #4 of Vatican II: “…the Jews should not be presented as rejected or cursed by God…”
Vatican II uses “reprobati,” which is the past participle passive of reprobo – the very same verb that the Council of Florence used! Vatican II and the Council of Florence are talking about the same thing (i.e. whether people who deny Our Lord are rejected), and they teach exactly the opposite. The Council of Florence defines that the Church “reprobat” (rejects) all individuals (Jews, etc.) who have a view contrary to Catholic teaching on Christ or the Trinity. Vatican II tells us that the Jews should not be considered as having been “reprobati” (as having been rejected). Vatican II directly contradicts Catholic dogma.
Thus, there is no doubt that Vatican II denies the dogmatic teaching of the Council of Florence. Anyone who would deny that Vatican II teaches heresy, in the face of these facts, is a liar.
Moreover, it doesn’t matter if you want to quibble about the precise meaning of reprobo – i.e. whether it should be translated as reprobate, disapprove, condemn, reject, etc. However you choose to translate it, the Council of Florence defined as an article of faith that the Jews are that, while Vatican II says they are not to be considered that.
Some desperate defender of the Vatican II religion might also argue that “Vatican II only said that they are not rejected by God; the Council of Florence defined that the Church rejects them.”
This is a fallacious attempt to defend heresy. Dogmas (such as Florence’s dogmatic definition) are the truths that God teaches.
Pope St. Pius X, Lamentabile, The Errors of the Modernists, July 3, 1907, #22:
“The dogmas which the Church professes as revealed are not truths fallen from heaven, but they are a kind of interpretation of religious facts, which the human mind by a laborious effort prepared for itself.”- Condemned
Dogmas are truths fallen from heaven. The Church doesn’t infallibly teach anything that God doesn’t also teach. When the Church solemnly defines that it rejects all who have a different view of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity (such as Jews), that is what God teaches. So, the statement that the Church rejects those who deny the Lord means that God also rejects those who deny the Lord. It is what has been revealed by Jesus Christ to the Church. Hence, Vatican II teaches blatant heresy against a truth revealed by God. Those who defend it obstinately, or defend the men who promulgated and spread it (the Vatican II Antipopes), become enemies of Our Lord.
This heresy in Vatican II’s Declaration Nostra Aetate is the theological foundation for the Vatican II sect’s current teaching on the Jews. It’s why the Vatican publishes books which teach that the Jews are free to live as if Christ had not come. It’s why the Vatican II sect teaches that the Old Covenant is valid. It’s why John Paul II and Benedict XVI both made trips to the synagogue to validate the Jewish religion.
And, just in case one forgets, this blatant heresy of Vatican II’s Declaration Nostra Aetate ended with these solemn words and the signature of Paul VI. This proves again that he was an antipope:
END OF THE VATICAN II DECLARATION, NOSTRA AETATE: “EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE THINGS SET FORTH IN THIS DECREE HAS WON THE CONSENT OF THE FATHERS OF THIS MOST SACRED COUNCIL. WE, TOO, BY THE APOSTOLIC AUTHORITY CONFERRED ON US BY CHRIST, JOIN WITH THE VENERABLE FATHERS IN APPROVING, DECREEING, AND ESTABLISHING THESE THINGS IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND WE DIRECT THAT WHAT HAS THUS BEEN ENACTED IN SYNOD BE PUBLISHED TO GOD’S GLORY… I, PAUL, BISHOP OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.”
