High school football player claims he was ejected for praising God on field
Kpho.com reports: We see it all the time: a football player celebrating after a touchdown. But one Valley high school student says his future in the game is now in jeopardy because of his actions. Pedro Banda said he wasn't taunting anyone. He was thanking God. The senior running back said he was ejected from the Dysart High School game Friday night for praising God on the field. Banda, number 15, said he had just made a touchdown and pointed to the sky to praise God. And after that, he said he was ejected from the game for excessive celebration and was told he's not allowed to play in the playoffs. “I was running to my brother who was also on the field, and I put my hand to my face mask and pointed up to the sky," Banda said. “I had no idea if it is a rule of him pointing to the sky, and it's a thing him and his brother do. They always do it to thank God for everything they've been through. If it is a rule, I would have liked to have been informed of it,” said mom Angela Franco. Banda's family members said they will appeal the decision with the coach's support. Support for Banda has been pouring in on social media. Comments included "That ref did you dirty, bro," "Makes no sense to me," "This NEEDS to be reversed," and "It's something that should never have to happen period."...
