Sean
Hannity’s revealing encounter with a Novus Ordo "priest" who
denounces him as a heretic for his support of birth control [video link is unfortunately no longer available] –
analysis below

There
are a number of very interesting things about this encounter, any one of which
could be the Heresy of the Week.
For
those who don’t know, Sean Hannity is a well known “conservative” anchor at Fox
News. Hannity also claims to be a devout
Catholic. He’s against abortion, but in
favor of artificial contraception. Since
he publicly contradicts Catholic teaching against artificial contraception,
“Fr.” Euteneuer, the President of Human Life
International, denounced him
in an article. Euteneuer was then asked
to come on Hannity’s television show, Hannity
and Colmes, to speak about the matter.
To his credit and to many people’s surprise, while on the show Euteneuer
spoke of Hannity as a public “heretic” and as “not a Catholic.” “Fr.” Euteneuer deserves some credit for
this, but not much. I say “not much”
because anyone who claims to stand for the Catholic Faith should not only have no problem doing the same, but should want to denounce public hypocrisy and
public heretics in order to inform the public of the strict obligation to
adhere to Catholic teaching on all points.
So, while
Euteneuer is being hailed as a hero and “one of the most courageous priests in
the country” for his action by pathetically weak false traditionalists – who
are itching for a glimmer of light from the Counter Church, a glimmer which
will help them rest secure in their compromised position – the truth is that
Euteneuer is not even conservative by true standards. The fact is that he’s an advocate of the
post-Vatican II apostasy and an outspoken supporter of the Vatican II
antipopes. Compared to the rest of the
pack of apostates and perverts which constitute the clergy of the Vatican II
sect, however, “Fr.” Euteneuer is radically conservative.
The first
thing I want to mention about his TV encounter with Sean Hannity is that it
strikingly illustrates a Catholic principle we have been discussing in our
material for years. It shows us again
that it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to denounce obstinate dissenters from
Catholic dogma as heretics before there has been any trial or declaratory
sentence. Euteneuer recognizes
that if Hannity can be considered
Catholic, there is no true unity of the Faith. He understands that if Sean Hannity can be
considered Catholic while obstinately rejecting Catholic teaching against
contraception (even though Hannity has never been officially declared a heretic
by his “Church”), then artificial contraception is optional for a Catholic. In
that case, there is not “one faith” in the true Church of Christ, but
many.
Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum (# 9), June 29, 1896:
“The practice of the Church
has always been the same, as is shown by the unanimous teaching of the Fathers,
who were wont to hold as outside Catholic communion, AND ALIEN TO THE CHURCH,
WHOEVER WOULD RECEDE IN THE LEAST DEGREE FROM ANY POINT OF DOCTRINE PROPOSED BY
HER AUTHORITATIVE MAGISTERIUM.”
The problem
is that hypocrites like Euteneuer only apply this Catholic principle to the
issues of abortion and contraception.
This is because they know that there’s enough of a support system in
place among the laypeople in the
Vatican II sect, who frequently have strong feelings against advocates of
abortion and contraception, that they can feel secure and supported and still somewhat mainstream while
denouncing as “not Catholic” those who dissent from Catholic teaching on these
matters. If people like Euteneuer were
really honest, they would apply this principle to all dogmas, including issues
of salvation, to dogmas on Our Lord, etc.
For instance:
if they were honest they would denounce as public heretics bishops in the Novus
Ordo Church, which includes the Vatican II antipopes, who say that Protestants
and Jews don’t need to be converted.
Teaching that Protestants don’t need to be converted, as Benedict XVI
and his “bishops” do, constitutes every bit the public heresy that support for
artificial contraception does. Their
failure to act on this fact demonstrates, unfortunately, that people like
Euteneuer are hypocrites who don’t stand for the truth. Before the Judgment Seat of Christ they will
be convicted of their blatant hypocrisy and their failure to apply the
principle they so willingly apply to people like Sean Hannity to others who
deny less politically correct truths of Catholic Faith. In summary of this point, therefore, this
video encounter provides us with a striking illustration of how completely
wrong non-sedevacanists are when they assert that the obviously public heretic
Benedict XVI cannot be certainly denounced as a non-Catholic because there has
been no trial or formal declaration by a pope.
Second, it’s
interesting to note what Sean Hannity says when trying to defend his support
for artificial contraception. Hannity
says that the Catholic Church does support a form of birth control, and he
cites Natural Family Planning.
Euteneuer makes a feeble attempt to deny that Natural Family Planning is
birth control. Hannity quickly and
correctly responds that the intention in both is the same: to prevent
conception. Convicted by this truth,
Euteneuer makes no response at all because the fact is that there is no
response. Even Paul VI admitted that
Natural Family Planning is birth control.
Natural Family Planning is definitely sinful birth control, and it is
used for the same reason that people use artificial contraception.
Third, it’s
worth pointing out the dishonest arguments that heretics like Sean Hannity
often make. They make these arguments in
order to distract people from the points against them. In response to the charge that he contradicts
official Catholic teaching while claiming to be Catholic, Hannity says: “Do you
know anything about my spiritual background?
Did you know that I went to a seminary?”
What does
this have to do with his contradiction of Catholic teaching? Nothing, of course. The fact that he studied theology or went to
a seminary is obviously totally irrelevant to the fact that he contradicts
Catholic teaching. But heretics often go
on the offensive with such irrelevant nonsense, as Hannity did, and usually in
more subtle forms, and it’s effective in distracting people from the truth or
even convincing them of their lying position.
Fourth, in
addition to the hypocrisy that “Fr.” Euteneuer displays by only applying his condemnation of people as heretics without a trial to
a few issues for which there is significant mainstream support, there is
also the fact that his authorities don’t
agree with him. In our new book, we
have a section called: “One can be pro-abortion and part of the Vatican II sect
at the same time.” It proves conclusively
that the authorities of the Vatican II sect recognize as Catholic those who not
only support artificial contraception, but abortion. This is true even though artificial
contraception and abortion are about the only issues the Vatican II sect’s
authorities even claim to stand against.
Euteneuer and
other false conservative members of the Vatican II sect are living in a
dream world when they pretend that their “Church” (the Vatican II sect)
agrees with them that those people, such as Sean Hannity or John Kerry, are not
to be considered Catholic. They need not
even be denied Communion, let alone excommunicated, according to official
position of the Vatican II sect, enunciated by such as Ratzinger himself.
Thus, this
video encouters serves to illuminate a number of truths which are adhered to
completely and consistently only by sedevacantists. It also demonstrates the contradictions
necessarily involved with adherence to the Counter Church and support for
Natural Family Planning.
